A silver SUV tore through the garage of a West Side home Monday afternoon, leaving one person hospitalized in critical condition and a San Antonio family staring at a wrecked front wall where their garage used to stand. The crash happened around 1:40 p.m. near Village Parkway and Wood Bow, according to the San Antonio Fire Department.
The vehicle appears to have struck the front of the house, tearing through the garage and damaging the roofline and exterior wall, according to KSAT. Photos showed the SUV in the driveway, with heavy damage to its rear and passenger sides. SAFD said the person taken to the hospital was in critical condition, though it remains unclear whether that person was inside the vehicle at the time of the crash.
Resident Describes Chaos From Inside the Home
Arunima Jaiswal, who lives at the home, said she was in a meeting when she heard a loud crash. Moments later, her mother rushed into the room and told her to come outside for an emergency, the outlet's report notes.
Jaiswal said she and her mother had both been in areas toward the back of the home when the SUV struck, putting them out of the vehicle's direct path. She said she was shocked to see the garage completely destroyed once she made it outside.
Investigation Still Early, Few Details Confirmed
SAFD has not released additional information about what led up to the crash, and the same report indicates further details were not immediately available. It has not been confirmed who was driving, who owned the SUV, or what caused it to leave the roadway and strike the house.
A separate 2021 crash on East Southcross also sent an SUV through a San Antonio home, injuring a child and the driver, both of whom were hospitalized in serious condition. Neighbors there said they had seen crashes at the same curve before and urged the city to consider safety measures. Then-District 3 Councilwoman Phyllis Viagran said she would follow up with the police chief and Public Works. That incident occurred in a different part of the city and does not establish what caused Monday’s crash.
Vehicle-into-home crashes have prompted safety concerns in other West Side neighborhoods, though no connection to this crash has been established. In October 2025, residents living near Loop 410 described repeated crashes onto properties, including a car that hit a bedroom wall. District 4 Councilman Edward Mungia said he was working with SAPD to increase patrols and called for stronger TxDOT barriers along the access road. That report focused on a separate neighborhood beside Loop 410, not the Village Parkway and Wood Bow crash site.
For now, the family is left assessing a completely destroyed garage and damage to the roofline and exterior wall, while the condition of the hospitalized patient remains critical. Hoodline will update this story as more information becomes available.
