McKinney diners craving made-to-order teriyaki bowls will soon have a new option just off Lake Forest Drive. Teriyaki Madness, the Seattle-style fast-casual chain known for customizable rice and noodle bowls, is building a restaurant at 4191 S. Lake Forest Drive, Suite 400, marking the brand's second foothold in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
The project is a $150,000 renovation of a 1,500-square-foot commercial space, according to Local Profile, with construction scheduled to begin Dec. 1, 2026, and wrap up April 1, 2027. McKinney owner Vamsi Kari confirmed the project to Community Impact, telling the outlet, “Teriyaki Madness is coming soon to McKinney.” Kari also told WhatNow that the team is preparing to begin construction and that he anticipates an April 2027 opening. WhatNow also reports that he plans to open additional locations across the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Reports differ slightly on timing. Community Impact's report frames April 2027 as the expected opening, while Local Profile notes that an official opening date has not yet been announced. The new location will sit on the east side of Lake Forest Drive near McKinney Ranch Parkway, per WhatNow, in a stretch of the city already home to Sushi Go, King Donuts and Black Rock Coffee Bar across the street. As of the WhatNow report, no social media profiles had been set up yet for the McKinney shop.
What's On The Menu
Teriyaki Madness built its name on customizable protein bowls served over rice or noodles, and the McKinney menu is expected to mirror what's offered at its other locations. Community Impact lists standout options including the spicy tofu teriyaki bowl and the chicken katsu bowl, alongside appetizers like potstickers and egg rolls and sides like vegetables and brown rice. WhatNow's rundown of the chain's typical offerings also includes chicken teriyaki bowls, spicy chicken teriyaki bowls, eggrolls, chicken potstickers and crab rangoons, with similar menus served at each location.
The chain's nearest existing restaurant to McKinney is in Denton, off Interstate 35, according to WhatNow — a location Community Impact also confirms is already open. The McKinney shop will become Teriyaki Madness' second in the Dallas-Fort Worth area once it's running. Founded in 2003 as a fast-casual Seattle-style Asian concept, per RestaurantNews.com, the chain has grown to 229 locations nationwide after opening nine shops in the third quarter of 2026 alone. WhatNow separately describes the chain as having over 220 locations nationwide and around 30 in Texas.
A Chain On A Growth Streak
The McKinney buildout comes as Teriyaki Madness posts some of the strongest numbers in the fast-casual sector. Third-quarter same-store sales rose 10.3 percent and traffic climbed 5.5 percent, the same RestaurantNews.com report states, while systemwide sales grew 25 percent year over year in the quarter and 28 percent across the first nine months of 2026. The brand also entered three new markets during that stretch.
That expansion is playing out well beyond McKinney. Teriyaki Madness has confirmed it will open a restaurant in Lubbock in spring 2027, according to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, which also reports that each new restaurant creates roughly 25 jobs. Local Profile describes the McKinney restaurant as joining a growing list of restaurant concepts expanding into the city, reflecting the kind of commercial interest drawing chains to the area.
For now, McKinney residents will have to wait out the winter construction window to find out exactly when the new bowls start flowing. Kari's plans don't stop at one shop, either — WhatNow has reported that he intends to pursue further Dallas-Fort Worth locations as the Denver-headquartered chain continues its rapid run of openings.
