Two vehicles were stolen from the Six Flags Fiesta Texas parking lot during Fright Fest, San Antonio police have confirmed, and investigators still have not located or arrested a suspect. One of the reports came in around 11 p.m. on Oct. 24, when a woman told officers she could not find her car and believed it had been taken.
The confirmation comes from San Antonio police, as reported by News 4 San Antonio, which first detailed the woman's 11 p.m. report and the department's statement that two vehicles had been stolen. The station says the investigation remains open, with no suspect identified so far.
What Happened at the Park
Fright Fest, the park's seasonal event featuring movie-themed haunted houses, scare zones and live shows, runs on select nights through Nov. 1, according to MySA. The outlet reports that a Six Flags Fiesta Texas spokesperson told the publication, citing information from San Antonio police, that two vehicles were stolen, but that the thefts themselves were not reported directly to the park. MySA says it reached out separately for information on a second alleged vehicle theft beyond the one confirmed by police.
A Reddit user quoted by MySA alleged that four cars were stolen from the Fiesta Texas lot during Fright Fest, a figure higher than the two vehicles San Antonio police have confirmed. That discrepancy has not been resolved, and police have only verified the two-vehicle count. The same Reddit post reportedly described the poster's own family and three other families as distraught, and urged other vehicle owners to take protective measures to secure their cars while visiting the park.
A Pattern Some Visitors Already Suspected
Other Reddit commenters cited by MySA claimed the area near the Rim shopping center has been a hotspot for car theft, break-ins and vehicle vandalism, with one commenter saying theft was especially common in the Palladium parking lot based on past experience. A separate report from KENS 5 described five vehicles stolen from the Fiesta Texas parking lot over a six-day span in an earlier incident.
The thefts also land amid a broader citywide trend. San Antonio recorded nearly 4,300 vehicle thefts from January through March 2023, marking an increase of close to 60% compared with the same period in 2022, per the same News 4 San Antonio report cited above. That report noted vehicle theft was among several crime categories that rose in 2023, alongside homicide, kidnapping or abduction, drug offenses and vandalism, even as overall crime in the city had declined.
Six Flags Responds
A Six Flags Fiesta Texas spokesperson said in a company statement that incidents of this nature are uncommon and that the park takes every report seriously. The spokesperson added that the safety and security of guests and team members remain the park's top priority, and that it will continue to assist local authorities as appropriate.
San Antonio police have described the case as active and under ongoing investigation, with no suspect information released publicly. Anyone with details about the thefts has not been given a specific tip line in official statements so far, and both MySA and News 4 San Antonio indicate the story is still developing as more information becomes available.
