Austin is waking up cloudy, humid and mild Wednesday, with temperatures in the mid-60s before the city climbs toward 84 degrees. Showers could interrupt the late-morning and afternoon stretch, but the bigger Halloween-week story is a warm weekend that should stay mostly cooperative for outdoor plans.
Showers Arrive Before Lunch
The forecast calls for a 30% chance of rain Wednesday, with showers and an isolated thunderstorm possible during the afternoon. Rainfall where it occurs Wednesday will average less than 0.10 inch, while southeast winds are forecast at 5 to 10 knots (roughly 6 to 12 mph).
Tonight brings another chance of showers and thunderstorms before 7 p.m., then mostly cloudy skies and a low near 66. No watches, warnings or advisories are in effect for the Austin area.
Rain Chances Ease Into Halloween Weekend
Thursday stays mostly cloudy with a high near 80 and only a slight chance of showers after 1 p.m. Friday should top out near 78, with a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms, making it the week's best bet for wet weather; the earlier outlook also called for a wetter finish to the workweek.
Saturday should reach about 83 degrees with a slight chance of showers or thunderstorms during the morning. Halloween night is expected to be partly cloudy with a low near 63, while Sunday looks mostly pleasant with a high around 87 degrees.
Summerlike Warmth Lingers Into Monday
The warm stretch continues Monday with a high near 86 and a slight chance of showers after noon. Rain and storms could return early next week.
The National Weather Service says a cold front could bring cooler, drier air early next week, although the exact timing is still uncertain. For now, Austin's forecast is simple: keep an umbrella nearby Wednesday, then enjoy a warm Halloween weekend with only a few passing shower chances.
