A private security guard fatally shot a 41-year-old Waldorf man early Saturday after the man stabbed someone else during a fight inside a bar on Business Park Court, according to investigators. William Pierre Strong was pronounced dead at the scene, while the man he stabbed was treated for injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.
Charles County deputies responded to The Cut Bar & Restaurant at 2570 Business Park Court in Waldorf around 1:46 a.m. Saturday for a report of a stabbing and shooting, according to FOX 5 DC. Investigators said a confrontation between two men escalated when one of them pulled out a knife and threatened the other, the station reported.
A security guard working at the bar then stepped in, trying to take control of the man's hand and the knife, according to WJLA. Despite the intervention, the man stabbed the other man once in the abdomen, the outlet reported.
Guard Opened Fire as Second Stabbing Appeared Imminent
Investigators said the guard fired his gun as Strong appeared to attempt another stabbing, striking him once in the chest. WJLA reported that Strong then walked outside and collapsed in the parking lot.
Responding officers found him still holding the knife, per the same account. Officers and emergency medical personnel provided aid, but Strong was pronounced dead at the scene. The man who was stabbed was treated for injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.
Authorities have not released the identities of the stabbing victim or the security guard, according to FOX 5 DC. The WBFF report on the incident noted that no charges had been announced in the sheriff's office release.
Case Heading to Prosecutors as Detectives Investigate
Detectives are investigating Strong's death as a homicide and plan to present the case to the Charles County State's Attorney's Office for review, authorities said.
