Arrest warrants allege that a robbery at Elevated Life on East Flamingo Road turned deadly when employee Reynaldo Rodis, 45, was shot in the chest after confronting the men forcing workers at gunpoint to bag marijuana. The warrants describe the confrontation and the evidence investigators say links two brothers to the case.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said dispatchers received a report of a shooting inside a business in the 3400 block of East Flamingo Road at approximately 11:40 a.m. on Oct. 15. Officers found a man with a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said three men entered the business, a marijuana shop with a barbershop, meditation room and sound room known as Elevated Life, near South Pecos Road, intending to commit a robbery.
Court records cited by the Las Vegas Review-Journal say the men targeted marijuana in the business’s sacrament room, with two holding employees at gunpoint. A witness told investigators that a heavyset suspect knocked Rodis off his back and fought with him, while a man in a black hoodie pointed a rifle at Rodis and fired once into his chest, according to the warrants. The Clark County Coroner’s Office determined Rodis died from a gunshot wound to the torso, the records say.
What Investigators Say Happened Inside Elevated Life
Fox5 Vegas reported that two suspects displayed a handgun and an AR-style rifle, making employees sit while the group took marijuana. According to the warrant account described by the Review-Journal, one suspect allegedly pulled an AR-style handgun from his sweatpants, forced an employee to sit down and put marijuana into a trash bag. The suspects also took an employee’s backpack and an electronic device used to unlock the business’s door, according to News 3 Las Vegas.
The warrants describe surveillance footage investigators say captured Anthony Terry entering the business with two unidentified men at 11:28 a.m. Detectives allege Terry was on FaceTime during the robbery and kicked a power cord connected to an outlet in an apparent effort to disable a camera. A detective also said Terry raised his hands as he passed a camera, which investigators viewed as an attempt to disguise his involvement. Police said footage showed Antwan Terry on the phone outside the business; he did not enter.
Investigators Cite Phone and Clothing Evidence
Phone records allegedly placed Anthony Terry’s device near the business and showed calls between the brothers during the robbery, News 3 Las Vegas reported. Detectives believe Anthony Terry was FaceTiming Antwan. A search of the brothers’ apartment turned up an orange hoodie that appeared to match clothing worn by a suspect in the footage, including the hoodie Anthony Terry was allegedly wearing when Rodis was killed, according to the warrants.
The warrants also describe a 911 call made the following day to request a welfare check on a woman and her four children. The caller reportedly told authorities that Anthony Terry, whom police identified by the nickname Duggy, was involved in the homicide and that she had learned Anthony and Antwan were involved in a murder together and wanted to flee Las Vegas, according to the Review-Journal. Anthony Terry’s girlfriend, who lived with him, told investigators that he seemed ordinary on the day of the killing but panicked the next morning and said they needed to leave, the warrant account says.
Warrants Issued; Suspects Were Still at Large
A judge granted arrest warrants for Anthony Terry and Antwan Delone Terry, according to Fox5 Vegas. Both brothers face charges of open murder, robbery with a deadly weapon and first-degree kidnapping, the station reported. Court records cited by the Review-Journal list four robbery counts, four first-degree kidnapping counts and one count of conspiracy to commit robbery. Detectives allege the brothers were part of a four-member crew.
A Separate Attempted-Robbery Shooting
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that Victor Powe, 59, was shot during an attempted robbery on April 10 in the 5700 block of Missouri Avenue near Boulder Highway. The reported details identify a separate marijuana-related attempted-robbery shooting, but do not establish that it took place inside a cannabis business or provide enough information to compare how the incident unfolded with the robbery at Elevated Life.
Fox5 Vegas reported that neither suspect had been taken into custody as of Thursday. Rodis’s family held the final night of a nine-day prayer vigil near Flamingo and Pecos roads, according to 8 News Now. The outlet reported that Anthony and Antwan Terry were two of the three people identified as suspects, leaving the identity of a third suspect unresolved in the public record.
