Charlie Clark Nissan is throwing open its lot in West El Paso this Saturday for its fifth annual fall festival, a free event packed with a pumpkin patch, a DJ, balloon animals and snacks for families across the borderland. The gathering runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the dealership's location at 6451 S. Desert Blvd., and organizers say admission is free for everyone who shows up.

According to KVIA, the dealership is specifically inviting families from El Paso, Las Cruces and surrounding communities to join in. Bobby Weso, who is with Charlie Clark Nissan, said the event is the dealership's way of giving back to local families, framing the festival as more than just a seasonal promotion.

Free Car-Seat Checks Add a Safety Layer

Beyond the pumpkins and music, the festival folds in a practical service: free car-seat safety checks provided by the UMC Foundation. Carolyne Williams, who is with the UMC Foundation, said families can have their car seats checked for suitability, proper installation and correct child restraints.

That offering is part of a larger, ongoing effort. The UMC Foundation notes that the El Paso Health Car Seat Safety Program holds free car-seat safety events one Saturday each month, with certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians evaluating seats for a child's age, height, weight and whether they meet safety standards. When a seat isn't appropriate or needs replacing, the program provides a new one free of charge when one is available, per the same account.

A Program Backed by Local Investment

The car-seat initiative has already shown measurable reach. At El Paso's first National Seat Check Saturday, 87 families received car-seat education, 142 children were evaluated and 112 new car seats were handed out, according to the UMC Foundation's news page. El Paso Health has also awarded $60,000 to the UMC Foundation to sponsor the Car Seat Safety Program, underscoring the scale of support behind the recurring checks families will find at Saturday's festival.

For now, the festival itself remains a one-day, come-as-you-are event: free pumpkins to pick through, balloon animals for the kids, a DJ keeping the energy up, snacks on hand, and a chance for parents to get their child's car seat checked by certified technicians before heading home.
