A 43-year-old West Harrison, New York man accused of sexually assaulting a minor in Darien earlier this year was arrested in White Plains last week and is now being held on a $150,000 bond. Daniel Ceglio faces multiple charges tied to an alleged assault that police say happened on July 9, and he was transferred to Stamford Superior Court after failing to post bond.
According to News 12 Westchester, Darien police received a report about the assault in July. CT Insider reported that the report was received July 28, 19 days after it allegedly occurred. Investigators then opened a case that led them to obtain an arrest warrant for Ceglio following their investigation.
Officers from the White Plains Police Department took Ceglio into custody on Oct. 16, acting on the Darien warrant. Per the same account, Ceglio waived extradition, and Darien police had him returned to Connecticut on Oct. 21.
Charges Filed Against Ceglio
As reported by Daily Voice, Ceglio faces charges of illegal sexual contact with a minor younger than 16, second-degree sexual assault involving a victim between the ages of 13 and 15 by someone at least three years older, and possession of alcohol by a minor. The specific charges stem from the arrest report filed in the case.
Ceglio was charged in connection with the sexual assault of a minor in Darien in July, according to CT Insider, which first reported the Stamford Superior Court transfer date. Darien police held Ceglio on the $150,000 bond before he was moved to Stamford Superior Court on Oct. 22, the outlet reported.
Few Details Released Due to Victim's Age
The station's report notes that after Ceglio failed to post his $150,000 bond, he was transferred to Stamford Superior Court to face the pending charges. Authorities have not released additional details about the case because of the victim's age.
No further information about the victim, the relationship between Ceglio and the alleged victim, or the current status of the case has been made public.
