West Jordan shoppers get their own Trader Joe's this week, as the grocery chain opens its doors at 5561 W. 7800 South at 9 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 23. The 8,987-square-foot store sits near the Mountain View Corridor and will mark the company's tenth location in Utah.

The opening comes about five months after Trader Joe's confirmed the West Jordan site, according to the Salt Lake Tribune, which reported the exact address as 5561 W. 7800 South, on the southeast corner of 7800 South and 5600 West. That timeline lines up with industry norms, since The Hill notes Trader Joe's typically marks stores as opening soon three to six months before they actually open.

Once open, the West Jordan store will run daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., according to a news release cited by ABC4. Store Captain Brandi Gilroy will oversee a crew of more than 50 employees, a mix of new hires from the surrounding area and transfers from other Utah locations, the station reports. The company's official store listing describes a lineup of everyday basics like milk, eggs, meat, bakery items and fresh produce, along with cheese and fresh flowers.

Second Store on the County's West Side in Two Weeks

West Jordan's new store will be the second Trader Joe's on Salt Lake County's west side, following the Herriman location that opened at 4918 West 13400 South, inside the Commons at Herriman Towne Center, on Oct. 9. That 9,200-square-foot Herriman store was the first Trader Joe's to open west of I-15 in Utah, per the same ABC4 account, and the West Jordan opening follows it by just two weeks.

The pair of openings reflects a broader push into southwest Salt Lake County. Back in May, KSL reported that Trader Joe's had selected Herriman and West Jordan as new store sites in that part of the county. West Jordan officials said at the time that the store was expected to bring new job opportunities and added convenience for local families, according to the same report.

More Utah Locations Already on the Map

Trader Joe's already operates in Riverdale, Holladay, Cottonwood Heights, Draper and Orem, plus two Salt Lake City stores, one near 400 South and 600 East and another in Sugar House. The chain has confirmed it plans to open at least 25 stores nationwide in 2026, per The Hill's reporting.

Looking ahead, Trader Joe's also plans a location in South Jordan, per the company. In May, the Salt Lake Tribune reported that address would be 11167 S. Grandville Ave., behind the Megaplex Theatres in the Daybreak area, though a finalized opening date for that store has not been established.

For now, the focus is West Jordan, where Trader Joe's plans a grand opening celebration featuring music and samples to mark the store's debut Friday morning.
