El Paso is starting Friday with mostly clear skies and temperatures around 63 degrees, but a brisk east-northeast breeze is already making it feel less sleepy than the calendar suggests. The city should reach about 74 degrees this afternoon, with a small chance of spotty rain showers between noon and 4 p.m. It is a breezy start to an otherwise fairly manageable October weekend.
Afternoon Winds And A Few Showers
According to the National Weather Service, east-northeast winds will run around 12 to 15 mph Friday, with gusts reaching 35 mph. The chance of precipitation is about 20%, so most of the city may stay dry, but a brief shower could pop up during the afternoon window.
Friday night will turn partly cloudy, with temperatures dropping to around 58 degrees. East winds should ease at times but could still gust as high as 26 mph, particularly across more exposed stretches around the region.
A Wind Advisory remains in effect through 8 a.m. Friday for parts of New Mexico's Tularosa Basin and the Sacramento Mountains, while no wind advisory is posted for El Paso County. The stronger mountain-area winds are a reminder that conditions can vary sharply across the borderland, even when the city forecast looks fairly calm on paper.
Sunny Saturday Leads Into A Warmer Week
Saturday looks quieter and mostly sunny, with a high near 77 degrees and east winds around 6 mph. Sunday should warm to about 79 degrees, though another chance of showers arrives after noon and wind gusts could reach 25 mph.
The next week brings a steady warmup: highs near 79 Monday, 82 Tuesday and 85 Wednesday and Thursday. Skies should remain mostly sunny to sunny through that stretch, with only slim rain chances.
That is a notable update from Thursday's drier, calmer setup described in Hoodline's earlier forecast. For Friday, lightweight layers and a little patience with the wind should cover most plans; by next week, El Paso will be back in familiar warm-weather territory.
