Yacht rock has found a new shipmate on the Las Vegas Strip: steak. The Docksiders, the soft-rock tribute band holding down a residency inside the Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian, have teamed up with Smith & Wollensky Steakhouse to offer a $220-per-person dinner and show package that bundles a three-course meal with VIP treatment, a captain's cap, and a visit to Minus5° ICEBAR.
The partnership marks the latest development in the band's ongoing residency at 1923 LIVE, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The dinner/show package, restricted to guests 21 and over, runs alongside The Docksiders' performances on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with the band taking the stage at 7:15 p.m. Smith & Wollensky serves its three-course dinner from 3 to 6 p.m. ahead of the show, and full details are available at 1923lv.com.
Beyond the meal, ticket holders get another free drink at Minus5° ICEBAR, which sits beneath The Docksiders' venue, along with the aforementioned captain's cap — a nod to the band's nautical, yacht rock branding. The $220 price marks a significant step up from 1923 LIVE's baseline VIP experience for the band, which Nevada Business Magazine priced at $98 per person as of this past March.
A Prohibition-Era Perch Above the ICEBAR
1923 LIVE is a Prohibition-style venue within the sprawling retail corridor, while Minus5° ICEBAR sits beneath The Docksiders' venue. Guests reach the upper-level venue via two dedicated elevators, a layout that keeps the room small and the ticket economics tight compared to the Strip's larger resort showrooms.
That scale makes cross-promotions like the new steakhouse bundle central to the venue's business model. According to documentation from the Grand Canal Shoppes, Smith & Wollensky operates a two-story, 14,000-square-foot steakhouse elsewhere in the retail complex, having relocated there in May 2019 from a standalone location on the Strip. The restaurant features a butcher room view and a glass-enclosed private dining area.
Grammy Nominee Behind the Band
Kevin Sucher leads The Docksiders, a soft-rock tribute act that has since signed through 2027 at the Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian.
Sucher has also talked up a planned live album tentatively titled “Meat the Docksiders.” In March, the group announced an extension of its Venetian residency through 2027, citing overwhelming demand.
Awards and an Expanding Lineup
The residency's commercial momentum has come with recognition. Nevada Business Magazine reported that The Docksiders were named “Best of Las Vegas – Resident Performer/Headliner” in 2024. Sucher is also bringing an '80s Revue to 1923 Prohibition Bar, scheduled for August 6 and produced by Sucher himself.
The venue's entertainment leadership traces back to Noel Bowman, a partner at 1923 LIVE who told Medium in November 2023 that he previously expanded Outback Steakhouse to hundreds of locations before founding Las Vegas nightlife concepts including Minus5° ICEBAR and 1923 Prohibition Bar. 1923 LIVE launched its entertainment program in April 2024 by pairing The Docksiders with “Legerdemain,” a close-up speakeasy magic and comedy show capped at 60 guests per show, according to a press release from The Vox Agency.
Why Dinner Deals Matter to the Mall
The push toward packaged dining-and-entertainment tickets reflects the broader economics of the Grand Canal Shoppes itself. An SEC filing from 2019 noted that the more than 700,000-square-foot retail complex generates over 60 percent of its top-line revenue from food and entertainment offerings across its more than 180 tenants — underscoring why pairing a boutique speakeasy act with an established steakhouse brand makes financial sense for a venue built on a small footprint rather than a sprawling resort showroom.
