Melissa Rycroft, the former Bachelor contestant and Dancing with the Stars champion, was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated in Texas, according to Tarrant County jail records. New DWI charges were issued on November 1, 2026, 83 days after she signed a plea deal on August 10, 2026, for a previous DWI charge stemming from a September 2025 crash in Southlake—a period closer to three months than two.

Rycroft was arrested and booked Sunday, according to Tarrant County jail records cited by TMZ. The outlet reports she was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving with an invalid license following a prior conviction or suspension without financial responsibility, and collision causing damage to a vehicle under $200. Us Weekly reported the same collision charge involving damage under $200, while Entertainment Weekly described the charge as collision causing damage to a vehicle of at least $200 — accounts that diverge on the exact threshold.

Bond across the three charges totaled $9,000, per the Us Weekly report. Entertainment Weekly reported that Rycroft had not yet posted bail as of its reporting, and that her attorney declined to make a statement on the new arrest.

A Guilty Plea Just Months Earlier

The new arrest follows a case that began in September 2025, when Rycroft was arrested and charged with DWI in Southlake. She pleaded guilty to that charge, with Entertainment Weekly reporting she entered the plea in August. As part of that resolution, she agreed to a 20-month probation sentence, avoiding 280 days in jail, the outlet reported.

The earlier sentence also required Rycroft to pay a $2,000 fine along with additional court fees, including what was described as a trauma fine, bringing her total financial obligation to $2,087, per the same account. She was further ordered to complete 36 hours of community service within 120 days and to finish a DWI education program, according to Us Weekly.

Strict Conditions Under Probation

Rycroft's probation terms barred her from driving without a camera-equipped ignition interlock device installed on her vehicle, Us Weekly reported. The terms also prohibited her from consuming or possessing alcoholic beverages, and from using, possessing or selling specified illegal substances, according to a separate Us Weekly report on her plea deal.

Texas records show DWI recidivism is not uncommon statewide. A Texas Department of Public Safety report covering the period ending July 1, 2026, recorded 24,331 DWI arrests and 7,474 arrests involving people with previous DWI arrests, for an arrest recidivism rate of 30.72%. The same report listed 848 DWI convictions, including 216 involving previous DWI convictions, for a conviction recidivism rate of 25.47%.

From Reality TV to Repeat Legal Trouble

Rycroft, 43, first became known to television audiences on season 13 of The Bachelor in 2009. She went on to win the all-star season of Dancing with the Stars in 2012. She married Tye Strickland in 2009, and the couple has three children together.

As the latest case moves forward, the earlier Southlake incident remains part of her legal history, with the prior guilty plea and its 20-month probation term still in effect when new charges were issued 83 days later.
