Boston police are asking for the public's help identifying someone connected to a jewelry theft on Charles Street in Beacon Hill, where a suspect allegedly grabbed a tray of rings worth $3,240 from the Tibet Emporium store and took off on foot.
The incident happened at 6 pm on Saturday, October 10, at 103 Charles Street, according to a community alert from the Boston Police Department. Detectives assigned to District A-1, which covers downtown Boston, are leading the investigation and have released an image of the person they're trying to identify, per the department's alert. Boston police say they are reviewing the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident, and anyone with information is urged to contact District A-1 detectives at (617) 343-4571.
Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the CrimeStoppers tip line, which takes calls at 1-800-494-TIPS, accepts texts by sending the word TIP to CRIME (27463), and collects submissions — including photos and videos related to the investigation — through its online portal. The department says it protects the identities of anyone who assists anonymously in an investigation.
A Shop With a Recent History of Trouble
A Shop With a Recent History of Trouble This isn't the first time the Tibet Emporium has dealt with property damage. Owner Tserang Sangpo told NBC Boston that a window at the store was broken by James Schaff back in 2024. Separately, the station reported that police said four businesses were hit within an 18-minute window, with reports coming in between Revere Street and Mt. Vernon Street. The Tibet Emporium window break, that four-business string of break-ins, and the October jewelry theft were separate incidents.
What Investigators Are Asking Residents to Do
For now, the department's ask is straightforward: if you recognize the person pictured in the alert or have any information about the October 10 theft, call District A-1 detectives or use the CrimeStoppers tip line. Boston police have not released additional details about the suspect's identity.
