Boston is getting a November fake-out: After starting near 55 degrees Tuesday morning, the city is headed for a partly sunny afternoon near 72. The unusually mild stretch continues through Thursday before wetter weather moves in for the end of the week.
The National Weather Service expects light southwest winds and little chance of rain Tuesday, making it one of the better days for outdoor errands, walks, or squeezing in a patio stop before the forecast turns soggy.
Wednesday Could Bring The Week’s Warmest Afternoon
Wednesday looks sunny and warmer, with a high near 75 and southwest winds between 8 and 13 mph. Temperatures remain mild Wednesday night, dipping only to about 57, while Thursday stays partly sunny with a high near 73.
Those readings are well above typical early-November temperatures in Boston and could come close to daily records across parts of southern New England. Thursday remains mostly dry during the day, but the odds of rain rise after 1 a.m. Friday.
Rain Takes Over Heading Into The Weekend
Friday brings a 70% chance of rain, mostly cloudy skies, and a chance of thunderstorms, with a high near 70. Rain and possible thunderstorms continue Friday night, when the chance of precipitation rises to 80%.
Saturday is expected to stay wet, with an 80% chance of rain and a cooler high near 65. Sunday may begin with a few showers before turning mostly sunny near 61, followed by a cooler, mostly cloudy night around 46.
No watches, warnings, or advisories are posted for Boston. For now, Tuesday through Thursday offer the clearest window for dry plans; an umbrella becomes the more useful accessory late Thursday into Saturday.
