Customers started lining up around the building hours before the doors even opened, all for a shot at being among the first through the door at Sonoma Valley's newest fast-food stop. Wingstop held its grand opening on Oct. 28 in Boyes Hot Springs' Fiesta Plaza, drawing crowds with a live DJ, a prize wheel, and a fundraiser tied to a local youth nonprofit.
The new restaurant, located at 200 Siesta Way, Suite 101, in the Fiesta Plaza Shopping Center off Highway 12, held its celebration in collaboration with the Sonoma Valley Boys and Girls Club, according to the Sonoma Index-Tribune. From 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. that day, a portion of the proceeds from Wingstop's sales went to the nonprofit, per social media posts cited in the report.
Lines, a DJ and a Prize Wheel Mark the Debut
The line of customers that formed outside the restaurant hours before opening set the tone for a lively morning, the outlet reported. The grand-opening event featured a live DJ and a prize wheel to keep the crowd entertained while they waited for their orders.
Wingstop also rewarded its earliest arrivals directly: the first 50 customers through the door received a $50 gift card to the restaurant, the Sonoma Index-Tribune's report noted. Those who want to check out the new location or order ahead can do so at wingstop.com.
Sales Proceeds Benefit Youth Programs
The Boys and Girls Club of Sonoma Valley, the beneficiary of the opening-day sales push, has supported children in the valley for more than 50 years, according to the City of Sonoma. The nonprofit helps roughly 2,600 local youth ages 6 to 18 every year through after-school and summer programs as well as a range of athletic leagues.
The exact dollar amount raised during the four-hour window was not disclosed in the available reporting. Still, the partnership gave the chain's local debut a community-minded framing beyond the free food and prizes.
Part of a Busy Year for Sonoma County Dining
Wingstop's arrival was described as the latest major fast-food chain to open a location in the Sonoma Valley region, the newspaper's report noted. That fits into a broader pattern across the county this year: more than 20 restaurants had opened or were slated to debut in Sonoma County in 2026, according to Sonoma Magazine, making it one of the busiest opening seasons the county has seen in recent years.
Some restaurateurs have pointed to a softening real estate market and easing rents as one reason behind that surge, per the same outlet's reporting. Fiesta Plaza itself has seen turnover before — in March 2024, Big 5 Sporting Goods announced plans to open a location there in the space formerly occupied by Prime Cinemas, though an opening date had not been confirmed at the time.
For now, the new Wingstop is open daily from 10:30 a.m. to midnight, giving Boyes Hot Springs another late-night option in a shopping center that has been gradually filling back in.
