Widowmaker Brewing’s North Beacon Street taproom was expected to resume regular business Sunday after repairs to its front door, WCVB reported. Boston police said they responded to a vandalism report at the Brighton business just after 6:30 a.m. Sunday, according to the station.

Surveillance footage showed a masked person forcing entry with an object believed to be a brick and damaging two cash registers, WCVB reported. The brewery said the registers contained no money. Police had made no arrests, and the investigation was ongoing; WHDH 7News reported that police were seeking information from anyone who might recognize the person in the video.

Other Brighton cases offer context, not a trend

Brighton has had other reported break-in incidents, but the available examples do not show whether such incidents are becoming more frequent. In February 2024, Boston police issued a community advisory about a number of recent break-ins and attempted break-ins in the neighborhood. The advisory predates the Widowmaker incident and does not establish a connection or a continuing pattern; the department’s notice describes that separate episode.

In another separate case, Boston police said two juveniles were arrested in June 2025 in connection with a series of break-ins at a commercial property at 617 Cambridge Street in Brighton. That case provides a documented comparison, not evidence that it is related to the current investigation or that Brighton businesses face a broader trend, police said.
