HCA Florida Healthcare has released the first architectural rendering of its planned Cape Coral hospital, giving residents their initial look at a $300 million project slated for 322 SW Pine Island Road. The three-story facility is expected to span approximately 200,000 square feet, with phase one including up to 100 acute-care beds.
As reported by Cape Coral Breeze, the rendering marks a visible milestone for a project that has been in the works for months. The planned hospital will rise on the same site where HCA Florida Cape Coral Emergency currently operates, according to hcafloridahealthcare.com. That existing emergency facility is a 24/7 freestanding ER and a campus of HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital.
HCA's announcement points to the city's rapid growth as the driver behind the expansion, stating that Cape Coral has experienced significant growth, increasing the need for additional healthcare access and patient choice, per the healthcare system's release. Planned services at the new hospital include emergency care, surgical services, cardiovascular services, inpatient care, outpatient services and imaging, the release notes.
City Council Signs Off on Incentive Package
Cape Coral's City Council approved the project's financial backing on October 21st, authorizing an agreement tied to the hospital's construction. The deal, approved under Resolution 301-26, authorizes up to $30.95 million in incentives for Fawcett Memorial Hospital Inc. to build an acute-care hospital at the Pine Island Road site, according to winknews.com.
That figure represents a ceiling, not a check already cut. The $30.95 million represents the maximum amount of authorized incentives, not an immediate payment to the hospital, the same report notes, underscoring that the actual dollars delivered will depend on how the project unfolds.
Timeline and What Comes Next
Construction on the hospital is expected to begin in 2027, with the facility anticipated to open in 2029, per hcafloridahealthcare.com. Once finished, it will become the 19th hospital in HCA Healthcare's West Florida Division, adding another full-service option in the region.
HCA's network in the region has been expanding steadily, with services spread across urgent care locations and affiliated surgery centers in addition to its hospital campuses. The Cape Coral project represents the next step in that buildout, bringing a full-service hospital to a city that has grown enough to justify the additional investment, according to HCA's own announcement.
