Omaha wakes up cloudy and chilly Thursday, with temperatures in the mid-40s and a damp start before the rain chances fade. The afternoon should reach the low 50s, but north winds will keep it feeling cooler than the thermometer suggests.
Brief Rain Chance Gives Way To Clouds
A few light rain showers remain possible before 8 a.m., but the chance is only about 20%. After that, expect mostly cloudy skies, northwest winds near 12 mph and occasional gusts up to 23 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
Thursday night's low should fall to around 37 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. There are no watches, warnings or advisories in effect, but the chilly overnight temperatures are a reminder that outdoor hoses, plants and other cold-sensitive items may need attention before the weekend.
Sunny Stretch Arrives This Weekend
Friday stays cool and partly sunny, with a high near 49 and a low around 32 Friday night. That near-freezing start could be the coldest point of the short-term forecast for Omaha.
The forecast then takes a welcome turn: Saturday should be mostly sunny with a high near 57, followed by a sunny Sunday near 61. Monday looks warmer still, reaching about 67 degrees, while Tuesday and Veterans Day on Wednesday remain mild and mostly sunny with highs in the low to mid-60s.
