Cincinnati Police Department's District Four investigators are asking the public for help identifying someone connected to a theft at the Kroger on W. Corry Street in Corryville. The appeal went out Thursday, with detectives saying they're still working to pin down who was involved.
“District Four investigators are attempting to identify an individual in reference to a theft offense that occurred at the Kroger on W Corry St,” the Cincinnati Police Department
said in a post Thursday. Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information about the incident is asked to contact Detective Horner at 513-569-8613. Tips can also go to Crimestoppers at 513-352-3040.
What's Known So Far
Beyond the location and the ask for public help, police have not released additional details about what was taken or when exactly the theft happened. A flyer attached to the department's post, bearing a District Four header and the line “Recognize This Suspect?,” carries a timestamp reading 2026 15:42:14, though it doesn't offer further specifics on the crime itself.
A separate District Four crime report for the Corryville area lists a Personal/Other Theft recorded at 5:49 p.m. on Oct. 20 at a location on W Corry St, logged under incident number 2026-INC-020725. That report, compiled by the department's Crime Analysis and Problem Solving unit, is marked as preliminary and subject to further analysis, and it's not clear from the available record whether it corresponds to the same case detectives are now publicizing.
A Kroger With a History of Theft Cases
This isn't the first time the Corryville Kroger has turned up in a Cincinnati police investigation. In April 2024, police said a suspect stole $1,400 by deception at the Western Union counter inside the store at 1 W. Corry Street, according to WLWT. Investigators released a photo of that suspect that July, and at the time asked anyone with information to contact Detective Bower.
The station also reported on a separate felony-theft investigation in the neighborhood in which a suspect allegedly broke into a vehicle on E. McMillan Street and then used a stolen credit card at a restaurant on Short Vine Street. In that case, too, detectives directed tips to Detective Horner, the same investigator now listed in Thursday's post. The available evidence doesn't establish any connection between that earlier case and the new one.
Local 12 reported on yet another incident in which police sought three people suspected of using a credit card stolen from a car on Auburn Avenue to buy gift cards at the Kroger on West Corry Avenue. That outlet noted people could contact Crimestoppers or Officer Hert, and that tipsters could potentially receive a cash reward for information leading to an identification. Nothing in the record ties that case to the Kroger theft detectives are asking about this week.
How to Help
For now, anyone with information specific to Thursday's case is urged to reach Detective Horner directly at 513-569-8613 or to submit a tip through Crimestoppers. Cincinnati police have not said whether an arrest is imminent or whether additional details will be released as the investigation continues.
