Downtown Los Angeles is starting Friday, November 6, but the afternoon will feel more like late summer than early November. Sunshine will push temperatures to about 83 degrees. Friday will bring stronger, more noticeable winds, though below advisory level, and no rain is expected.
Heat Builds Through Sunday
The warmup continues Saturday, when downtown could reach 85 degrees, followed by a few degrees of cooling Sunday across most coastal and valley locations. Overnight lows will remain relatively comfortable, in the mid-to-upper 50s through the weekend.
Sunny, dry weather is expected Monday through Veterans Day, with temperatures cooling after Sunday. The forecast turns slightly cooler Thursday, when temperatures should top out near 79 under mostly sunny skies.
Santa Ana Winds Raise Fire Concerns
The National Weather Service says offshore winds will strengthen across parts of Los Angeles and Ventura counties, with the strongest conditions expected Friday night into Saturday. Gusts of 30 to 45 mph are possible in wind-prone areas, while the mountains could see isolated gusts as high as 45 to 55 mph.
A Red Flag Warning has been issued for targeted mountain zones in Los Angeles and Ventura counties from 2 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. Downtown's point forecast calls for much lighter winds, but very dry air and nearby gusty conditions mean residents should avoid anything that could spark a fire and stay alert for evacuation instructions if conditions change.
Beach Hazards Linger Into Next Week
People heading toward the coast should also use extra caution through Tuesday, when hazardous swimming conditions, dangerous rock-jetty waves and elevated surf are expected. High tides are forecast to reach roughly 7.2 to 7.6 feet Sunday and Monday, creating a risk of shallow flooding along some low-lying coastal walkways and beach areas.
The latest forecast adds sharper fire-weather and coastal concerns to the sunny weekend outlook covered in earlier Hoodline coverage. For downtown residents, the practical forecast is simple: cool mornings, hot afternoons, dry air and a weekend that rewards sunscreen more than a jacket.
