Skeletal remains found in a field near NE Halsey Street and Fairview Parkway more than two and a half years ago still have no name attached to them, and investigators are renewing their plea for the public’s help to change that. The remains of an adult male were discovered in Fairview, Oregon on March 19, 2024, and detectives estimate he had likely been at the site for nine or more months before he was found.

Clothing Offers the Clearest Clues

According to KPTV, the Multnomah County Medical Examiner’s Office is seeking public help identifying the man, who was found dead in the Fairview field in 2024. When he was found, he was wearing a blue Fokai-brand tank top, a full-zip black hooded sweatshirt from Forever 21 Men in a size large, and tan Relaxed-Fit Rugged Flex Carhartt work pants sized 33x30, per KPTV. He also had on a Lee-brand leather belt with a white metal buckle and a gray ball chain necklace, the station reports.

Those same clothing details were also laid out by KOIN, which described the items as a blue “Fokai” tank top, a full-zip black hooded sweatshirt, tan Carhartt work pants, a leather belt with a white metal buckle, and a gray ball chain necklace.

Descriptions of the Man Differ Between Sources

Per KPTV, the medical examiner’s office described the man as white, between 25 and 40 years old, standing 5 feet 7 inches to 6 feet 2 inches tall, with blond or brown hair and green or hazel eyes. KOIN reported the same age range and physical description in its own account of the case.

The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, however, offers a different characterization on its open unsolved cases page, stating that the remains are believed to be that of a Hispanic or European male in his mid-20s to late-30s. The sheriff’s office also notes the man had three prior rib fractures, an extra vertebra, and some unerupted wisdom teeth — physical details that could help a family member recognize him.

No Threat to the Public, Investigators Say

The sheriff’s office says the East County Major Crimes Team is conducting the death investigation in collaboration with the medical examiner’s office. At the time the remains were first discovered in 2024, authorities said they did not believe there was any threat or danger to the public related to the circumstances of the case.

The medical examiner’s office has released no other details about how the man died, according to KPTV. People with information are asked to call the Multnomah County Medical Examiner’s Office at 503-988-0055 and reference case number MU-240319-1019.
