Brief downpours and showers occurred near Orlando early Sunday, November 1, as a Flood Watch remained in effect for Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie and Martin counties until 3 p.m. Monday, with heavy downpours and thunderstorms still capable of causing flooding. The city is expected to warm into the upper 70s, but soggy roads and renewed rain could make parts of the day a messy one.
Flooding Threat Lingers Through Monday Evening
Showers and thunderstorms are most likely before 10 a.m., followed by additional chances through the afternoon and evening. East-northeast winds will run 10 to 15 mph, with gusts up to 25 mph, while another 1 to 3 inches of rain could fall through Monday night.
The National Weather Service says localized totals could be much higher, with saturated ground increasing the risk of flooding in low-lying, poorly drained and urban areas. Drivers should avoid flooded roads and never attempt to cross moving water.
The updated warning marks a sharper turn from Saturday’s forecast, as described in Sunday’s Hoodline outlook, which had already flagged the region for a soaking weekend. The latest forecast keeps the flood concern front and center through Monday evening.
Beach And Boating Conditions Stay Dangerous
Orlando is inland, but east-central Florida’s coast faces an additional round of hazards. The forecast calls for 5- to 7-foot breakers, numerous life-threatening rip currents and possible coastal flooding near high tide, especially south of St. Lucie Inlet.
Beachgoers should stay out of the ocean, while boaters can expect rough Atlantic conditions and small-craft advisories into Tuesday. The combination of strong easterly winds, high surf and heavy rain is a poor match for casual beach or boating plans.
Warmer And Drier Weather Arrives Later
Tuesday should reach about 83 degrees with a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms, followed by a similar setup Wednesday with a high near 84. Rain chances then drop sharply, with dry weather and highs in the low to mid-80s Thursday and Friday.
The weekend looks more manageable, with a sunny Saturday near 81 degrees and a high around 80 Sunday. Nights should cool into the 60s, with dry conditions expected through the weekend.
