A 16-year-old from Foxborough was arrested Wednesday afternoon in connection with a double murder that has gone unsolved since two men were gunned down on a Dorchester street nearly a year and a half ago. The teen, who has not been publicly named because of his age, was taken into custody around 1:50 p.m. on Community Way in Foxborough on a warrant charging him with two counts of murder and carrying a firearm without a license, second offense.
The arrest closes out a long gap in the investigation into the deaths of Walter Wilkens, 36, of Quincy, and Anthony McIntosh, 66, of Dorchester, who were shot on Franklin Hill Avenue on May 24, 2025. According to the Dorchester Reporter, Boston police responding to a ShotSpotter alert at about 9:47 p.m. that night found both men suffering from gunshot wounds near 38 Franklin Hill Avenue. They were rushed to area hospitals, where they were pronounced dead.
Boston police were joined by the U.S. Marshals Service, Massachusetts State Police and Foxborough Police in making Wednesday's arrest, per the same account from the Dorchester Reporter. The NBC Boston report on the arrest notes that the U.S. Marshals Service said the warrant was issued out of Suffolk Superior Court, and that the fugitive task force had been searching for the teen in connection with the deadly shooting.
Victims Identified After Initial Uncertainty
In the days after the shooting, investigators had not immediately released updates on the case, and as of June 1, 2025, no arrests had been made, MassLive reported at the time, when both victims were first publicly identified. Wilkens and McIntosh both died from their injuries after being taken to the hospital with what were described as life-threatening wounds.
The case then went quiet for more than a year, with no publicly disclosed leads, until Wednesday's arrest brought it back into view. The Boston Police Department confirmed the development in an investigation update, identifying the arrest as being for two counts of murder tied to the 2025 Dorchester homicide.
Investigation Remains Active
Authorities have not publicly identified the teen or shared further details about the killings, a separate MassLive report on the arrest noted. It was also not immediately clear when the teen is expected to appear in court, according to NBC Boston.
Boston police homicide detectives say the investigation remains active, and anyone with information is asked to call them at 617-343-4470, per the Dorchester Reporter. Boston 25 News also confirmed the arrest, reporting that the U.S. Marshals Service described the teen as wanted in connection with the 2025 double shooting before he was taken into custody in Foxborough.
