St. Louis is starting Friday under cloudy skies with temperatures in the 40s, but the bigger weather story is waiting until after dark: a Freeze Warning arrives as temperatures plunge toward the 30s. Clouds should break through the afternoon, with a high near 52 and a light north wind.
Freeze Warning Arrives Friday Night
The warning runs from midnight Friday night through 8 a.m. Saturday, with sub-freezing temperatures possible across the city, county and surrounding region. Regional forecast lows are in the upper 20s to low 30s, with colder outlying spots potentially dipping into the upper 20s.
The National Weather Service advises residents to protect tender plants and any exposed outdoor plumbing. The alert is a sharper turn from the mild stretch covered in an earlier Hoodline forecast.
Sunny Weekend Leads Into A Warm-Up
Saturday will be sunny and cool, with a high near 56 and light winds after the early freeze threat fades. Sunday brings a bigger rebound, with sunshine and a high near 63.
The warmest stretch arrives Monday through Wednesday, when highs are expected to reach the upper 60s. Monday could reach 66, followed by highs near 69 Tuesday and 66 on Veterans Day. Monday and Tuesday are expected to be mostly sunny.
Mostly Dry Through Midweek
Rain chances remain minimal for most of the week, with only a slight chance of light rain Wednesday night. Thursday looks mostly sunny again, with a high near 61.
