Minneapolis is waking up under cloudy skies Monday, November 2, with a soaking stretch of rain about to settle over the city. Temperatures will climb into the low 60s, while rain and gusty winds could make the morning commute soggy; after a lull tonight, more intermittent light rain or drizzle is expected.
Rain Arrives For The Monday Commute
Rain is expected to spread across Minneapolis during the morning, with near-continuous rain at KMSP from about 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. The high should reach about 63 degrees, with gusty southeast winds.
The National Weather Service forecast calls for roughly three-quarters of an inch to 1 inch of rain Monday, according to its Minneapolis forecast. Roads may become slick, visibility could drop during heavier showers, and anyone driving or biking should allow extra time.
More Rain Through Wednesday
Showers may ease somewhat Monday evening, but the wet pattern is not packing up its umbrellas yet. Rain remains likely Tuesday, with a high near 64 degrees before temperatures slide during the afternoon, followed by another rainy day Wednesday with a high around 56.
The broader storm system could bring roughly three-quarters of an inch to 2 inches of rain across parts of the region through Wednesday. That makes this a useful week to clear leaves from storm drains, secure loose outdoor items and keep the rain jacket within arm’s reach.
Cooler And Quieter By The Weekend
Thursday brings only a chance of light rain and a high near 50, while Friday stays partly sunny with a high around 53. The weekend brings additional minor rain chances, with Saturday's high near 54.
This is a substantial update to the forecast covered in Hoodline’s earlier Minneapolis weather report: the rain is now arriving, the wind is picking up, and the soggy stretch is expected to last through Wednesday.
