Hoover police are asking anyone who recognizes a person sought for questioning in a felony shoplifting case to come forward. Investigators allege the individual selected more than $600 in merchandise before passing every checkout point without attempting to pay; police have classified the case as felony shoplifting.
ABC 33/40 reported that the theft happened at a local business and that the suspect's vehicle remains unknown. Anyone who recognizes the person is asked to contact Detective Houser at 205-444-7615.
How to Report What You Know
For anything requiring immediate attention, Hoover Dispatch can be reached at 911 or 205-822-5300, the station's report notes. People who'd rather stay out of it entirely can submit tips anonymously through the Hoover Police Department's website or through Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama, either by calling 205-254-7777 or visiting crimestoppersmetroal.com.
Tipsters have some incentive beyond civic duty here: per the same account, Crime Stoppers tips that lead to an arrest may be eligible for a cash reward. As with any case still under investigation, anyone eventually charged is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
Not the First Time Hoover Has Asked for Help
This isn't the first appeal of its kind out of Hoover. In October 2023, the Hoover Police Department said two people working together had selected more than $2,000 in merchandise at a local business before passing all points of sale without paying, in a case investigators also classified as felony shoplifting.
A more recent case followed in July 2025, when WBRC reported that Hoover police sought help identifying three suspects accused of working together to steal more than $900 in merchandise from a local business. In that case, investigators said they believed the group was driving a red Kia Sorento — a detail that remains unknown in this latest shoplifting case.
