Horton Records’ 13th annual Rock-N-Folk-N-Chili Cook-Off is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 7, at Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa. Proceeds support Oklahoma musicians and music projects through the Tulsa-based nonprofit, the Tulsa World reports.
The event at 423 N. Main St. begins at 5:30 p.m., with chili from local restaurants, according to the Tulsa Flyer. The concert is scheduled to start at 6:15 p.m., the Flyer reports.
Saturday’s lineup
The four-act bill includes Austin blues-rock duo Greyhounds, who will headline; Nashville-based guitarist JD Simo; Oklahoma singer-songwriter Samantha Crain; and Oklahoma City art punk band Stepmom. The Tulsa World lists the acts, and the Tulsa Flyer also names Stepmom as a performer.
The Tulsa Flyer notes that Stepmom has previously played Tulsa’s Mercury Lounge, The Whittier Bar and The Vanguard.
Oklahoma arts grants
For a broader view of public arts support, the Oklahoma Arts Council says it provides grant funding to organizations and schools statewide to support access to the arts. Its overview identifies organizations and schools as grant recipients but does not specify a program for individual musicians or name particular music projects the grants fund.
