A man walked into a flower shop on the 5300 block of Chimney Rock Road just before 3 a.m. on August 1, kept one hand tucked inside his hoodie pocket, and gestured as though he had a weapon before demanding cash in Spanish. He took money from the register and took off, and now Houston police want the public's help putting a name to his face.
Early Morning Robbery Caught Employee Off Guard
According to the Houston Police Department, the complainant was working at the flower shop near the Southwest Freeway around 2:45 a.m. when the suspect entered the building. Investigators say he approached with one hand hidden inside his hoodie pocket and began gesturing as though he had a weapon, according to the department's account. He then told the complainant in Spanish to hand over the money, took cash from the register and took off, police said.
Police describe the suspect only as a Hispanic male wearing khaki pants and a dark-colored hoodie, offering few other identifying details. As KPRC Click2Houston reports, the Houston Police Department is now asking the public to help identify the man accused in the robbery.
Investigators Eye Possible Second Robbery at Same Shop
Detectives believe the suspect may be connected to a second robbery at the very same flower shop about a week later, filed under a separate incident number, per the police account. Beyond the shared location and timing, the station's report does not detail what happened during that follow-up incident, and no further specifics have been released.
Hoodline previously reported on an armed robbery at a general store on the 5700 block of Chimney Rock, where a Hispanic male suspect with dark curly hair forced an employee and a customer to the ground before emptying the cash register and safe on November 2, 2024. Witnesses in that earlier case told investigators the suspect spoke Spanish with a Guatemalan accent.
