A 33-year-old Jefferson City man was thrown from his pickup truck after it flipped on a rural Cole County road in the middle of the night, leaving him hospitalized. The one-vehicle wreck happened around 1 a.m. Friday on West Brazito Road, just before its east junction with Jones Road.
According to KRCG, the man was driving a 2005 Toyota Tundra westbound when the truck went off the right side of the road. He then overcorrected, sending the Tundra off the left side of the road as well, before it began to skid.
Truck Flipped, Ejecting the Driver
The sideways skid ended with the Tundra flipping over, throwing the driver from the vehicle, the station's report states. Emergency crews responded and transported him to University Hospital.
Accounts of the man's condition differ. KRCG reported that he sustained serious injuries, while Central Missouri Info described his injuries as moderate and reported he was taken to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment.
Seat Belt Use in Question
Central Missouri Info also reported that the driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. No further details on his condition following transport, any citations issued, or the cause of the initial swerve have been released.
