The exterior of the first Buc-ee's in Kansas is nearly finished, with stone columns rising over the future gas pumps and a covered roof now in place at the sprawling travel center taking shape in Kansas City, Kansas. Fresh construction photos show the project moving steadily toward completion at 601 Village West Parkway, just off the Legends shopping district and Kansas Speedway.
Cleveland Construction Inc., the firm managing the build, shared the new progress photos and said the exterior is nearly complete with interior finishes close behind, according to KMBC. Inside, workers have already placed tile across the main floor and installed ceiling grid and lighting above the counters and a stone wall, the station reports. Outside, rebar and forms are set for the sidewalk in front of the building, and the gas pumps themselves are set and still being positioned beneath finished stone columns that will support the fueling canopy.
A Massive Travel Center Near the Legends
The project is planned to span 74,000 square feet, according to the same KMBC report. A separate account from cjonline.com describes the site as encompassing 74,000 square feet while offering 120 fueling sites and 12 electric vehicle charging stations; KMBC's reporting separately puts the fuel station count at 100, and the two figures have not been reconciled. The site sits adjacent to the Legends shopping center and Kansas Speedway near 110th and Village West Parkway, per cjonline.com's reporting.
Getting to this point required local government sign-off. The Unified Government Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a development agreement for the location, according to KSHB, which also confirmed the 601 Village West Parkway address in KCK.
Cost and Timeline Questions
The project is expected to cost about $95 million, cjonline.com reports. Timing has shifted during the planning process: the location had initially been expected to open in October 2027, but a more recent report said it was then expected to open in spring 2027, according to cjonline.com's reporting, which has not been confirmed as a final date.
