A Recurring Pattern In South King County
Silver Alerts for vulnerable adults have become a familiar occurrence around Kent in recent months. Earlier this year, a Silver Alert was issued for Shane Ryan, described as a missing vulnerable adult last seen in Kent, according to iLoveKent. That report said Ryan was reported missing on April 3 but had not actually been seen since March 31, illustrating how reporting delays can complicate these cases.
In a separate incident, the state patrol activated a Silver Alert on behalf of Kent Police for Kathy Woodward, with police saying her disappearance also posed a credible threat to her health and safety, the same outlet reported. Nearby in Auburn, the state patrol canceled a Silver Alert for 86-year-old Charles DeMontigny in December 2025 after he had been reported unable to return to safety without assistance, according to the Auburn Examiner.
What Happens After An Alert Goes Out
Not every missing-person alert in the area has ended without resolution. The state patrol canceled an Endangered Missing Person Alert after locating 35-year-old Ashley Watson of Kent, according to FOX 13 Seattle. Washington State Patrol describes Silver Alerts as similar to Endangered Missing Persons Advisories, but reserved for cases involving people age 60 or older, per a state patrol web page.
