Luther Vandross classics are coming back to life in Las Vegas next week, with two-time Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Terry Steele set to headline a tribute concert on November 14 at 7 p.m. General admission tickets are priced at $15, according to the show's announcement.
The concert was announced by the City of Las Vegas
on social media, inviting fans to “experience the timeless hits of Luther Vandross at a special tribute concert starring two-time Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Terry Steele.” The lineup promises sing-along staples including “Never Too Much,” “Here and Now,” and “A House Is Not a Home,” along with what the city's announcement describes as tributes to Whitney Houston and Aretha Franklin.
Steele's connection to Vandross runs deeper than performance. He co-wrote Vandross's landmark hit “Here and Now,” according to a New Jersey Herald press release detailing his 2026 national tour. That same release credits Steele with a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Song tied to the recording; its 1991 date refers to Vandross's Grammy win, while the Parker Playhouse page gives Steele's nomination year as 1990.
A Tour With Deep Soul Roots
The Las Vegas stop is part of a broader run of 2026 dates. Per the press release, the tour spans Southern California, the Bay Area, Los Angeles, New York, North Carolina, and beyond, with additional national dates being added through December. The setlist, per the same account, ranges from “Never Too Much” and “A House Is Not a Home” to “Dance with My Father” and “Power of Love/Endless Love,” alongside the Houston and Franklin tributes.
Steele's own show listing confirms the November 14 date and 7 p.m. start, describing the performance as “Terry Steele sings Luther Vandross.” The listing places the venue at 947 W. Lake Mead Blvd., while the city's announcement lists the address as 951 W. Lake Mead Blvd. — a discrepancy fans may want to double-check before heading out.
A Career Built on Grammy Nods and Songwriting Credits
Steele has been described elsewhere as a two-time Grammy award nominee and two-time ASCAP award-winning songwriter, according to a Yamaha event page documenting his past performances. That same page notes Steele performed a Luther Vandross tribute at the Festival of Arts in Laguna Beach back in 2018, showing the show has been part of his repertoire for years.
Not every scheduled tribute has gone off without a hitch. A planned Luther Vandross celebration featuring Steele in Fort Lauderdale on November 2, 2024, was canceled after Steele was unable to travel due to what organizers called unforeseen medical issues, according to the Parker Playhouse event page. That 2024 listing had also promised tributes to Whitney Houston and Aretha Franklin, mirroring the lineup planned for Las Vegas later this month.
For now, the Las Vegas show remains on the books for Saturday, November 14, with $15 general admission tickets offering fans a chance to hear the man behind some of Vandross's biggest songs perform them live.
