A new Scooter's Coffee drive-thru is on the way to Leeds, with the coffee chain planning to open its doors this December. Construction is already underway on the location, which will mark the company's third outpost in the Birmingham area.

The City of Leeds announced the new Scooter's Coffee location via its Facebook page, according to Bham Now. The new shop will sit in the Cedar Springs Shopping Center on Asheville Road near the Bama Flea Mall, though an exact address has not yet been announced. The shopping center itself has previously been described as a retail strip center spanning four parcels and roughly 11.2 acres along Asheville Road Northeast, according to Bhamwiki.

Scooter's Coffee is a drive-thru coffee chain known for espresso drinks, smoothies and pastries, as described by Elmore Autauga News. The Leeds menu is expected to include specialty coffee drinks, smoothies, teas and breakfast options, per Bham Now's reporting. Once open, the Leeds shop will give the chain two existing Birmingham-area locations on U.S. 280 plus this new third spot.

A Familiar Pattern of Alabama Growth

This isn't the chain's first rodeo in the Birmingham area. Back in 2023, Scooter's Coffee opened a location at 4725 U.S. 280, which the Shelby County Reporter's report noted was built as a newly constructed drive-thru kiosk model. That opening was expected to create approximately 15 local job opportunities, the same report said.

At the time, the company pointed to local demand as the driver behind its expansion. “We see a need for specialty coffee in your area,” the chain said, as reported by the outlet. That same growth pattern has continued elsewhere in the state — in 2024, PAJC Holdings LLC, a Scooter's Coffee franchisee, purchased a 2,481-square-foot building on 0.48 acres at 400 South Memorial Drive in Prattville, a deal announced by SRS Birmingham, according to Elmore Autauga News. That Prattville shop was described as the chain's 14th location in Alabama.

Another New Business Headed to Leeds

Scooter's Coffee isn't the only new business coming to Leeds this December. Big Mama's, a meat-and-three grab-and-go restaurant, is also planning to open in the city the same month, according to Bham Now's reporting. The restaurant is set to be located at 1689 10th Street SE in downtown Leeds and will offer made-from-scratch, home-cooked meals that previously came from a food truck. Plans for the Big Mama's restaurant were first reported in September 2026.
