Linda Satter’s decision to adopt a cat she spotted on a Little Rock overpass began with what she called “a little white blob.” The animal was wet and frightened, but after a rescue involving Satter’s friend Gary Iverson and firefighters, she became Robbie.
Satter called Iverson and the Little Rock Fire Department for help, according to KARK. Firefighters tried to reach the cat from a large bucket, but the attempt sent her scrambling farther along the overpass.
The Cat Bolts for a Drainage Opening
As the cat fled, Iverson saw her heading toward a drainage opening and crossed the bridge to check the area, according to KARK. He found her soaked and wedged into a small space near the drain.
Iverson told KARK the cat was “soaking wet” and huddled in the hole.
A Careful Grab Ends the Standoff
Iverson approached carefully and reached around the cat’s neck to pull her from the opening, according to KARK.
Satter was waiting when the cat was brought out and took her into her care. The rescue had left the animal with a place to go—and Satter chose to make that arrangement permanent.
From Stranded Stray to Family Pet
Satter said she felt she had no real alternative but to take the cat in herself. She decided to adopt her on the spot, giving her a name to match the ordeal that brought them together: Robbie, as noted by KARK. What started as a strange white shape glimpsed from an overpass ended with a rescued animal settling into a forever home.
Stray cats and adoptions in Little Rock
The available city adoption figure is a historical snapshot, not a typical-year count: the City of Little Rock reported 814 cats and kittens adopted in 2015, a record at the time. The city says stray animals collected by Animal Services are housed at the Animal Village for care or held for owner pickup, adoption or rescue, according to its Animal Services information.
