A 48-year-old Los Gatos man was taken into custody Sunday evening after police responded to a battery call on the 200 block of Edelen Avenue, near the Old Town shopping center. A woman had called police at 6:18 p.m. to report that her partner had choked her and that he remained on the premises.
Officers were on scene by 6:26 p.m., according to body-camera footage cited by Los Gatan, which first reported the arrest. The Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department took the man into custody following the response.
Court Filing Describes Alleged Strangulation
A protective-order application filed by an LGMSPD officer states that the victim was strangled for approximately 8 to 10 seconds, that she was fearful for her life, and that she was unable to exit the apartment when police arrived, the outlet's report notes. Those details come from the court application and reflect the allegations made in that filing rather than independently confirmed findings.
Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Le Jacqueline Duong subsequently issued an emergency protective order against the man, requiring him to stay 300 yards away from the victim. The same account indicates the order was set to expire at 5 p.m. Friday, November 6, 2026.
Search Warrant Leads to Firearm Seizure
Police returned to the location with a search warrant around 4:30 p.m. Monday, which authorized them to search for guns and ammunition. Firearms were seized from the home as a result, and per the court document, the suspect is barred from possessing any firearms until the protective order expires.
LGMSPD spokesperson Cpt. Greg Borromeo said the investigation remained active. “The investigation is still ongoing, so we won't be providing any additional information at this time,” he said, per the same account.
Separate Local Case, Different Circumstances
The Edelen Avenue arrest comes the same week as another Los Gatos case reported separately by The Mercury News, in which a man was arrested on a misdemeanor trespassing charge after a woman said she found her ex-boyfriend inside her Milbrae Lane apartment and asked police to remove him. The evidence does not establish any connection between that incident and the Edelen Avenue case.
The identity of the man arrested in the Edelen Avenue case has not been released, and the final charges and case outcome remain unclear. Hoodline will update this story as more information becomes available.
