An adult man has died after being struck by a vehicle near Highway 65 and 125th Avenue in Blaine, according to the city. The Minnesota State Patrol is now investigating the crash, and authorities have not released additional details about what led up to it.
The fatal crash was first reported by KARE 11, which said the man died after being hit by a vehicle at the intersection. Beyond confirming that the State Patrol is handling the investigation, the outlet reported that no further information about the circumstances of the crash had been made public.
No Details Yet on What Happened
As of now, there is no public information identifying the man who died, nor details about the vehicle involved, the time of the crash, or what led up to the collision. The State Patrol has not released a statement beyond confirming it is investigating, and it remains unclear when more information might be shared.
The stretch of Highway 65 near 125th Avenue sits within a corridor the Minnesota Department of Transportation has flagged for upcoming work. According to MnDOT, the agency plans to begin a project in 2026 to reconstruct Highway 65 between 97th Avenue and 125th Avenue/Main Street in Blaine, with stated goals of improving safety and mobility and reducing crashes along the highway.
A Separate Crash Nearby Underscores the Corridor's Risks
This is not the only pedestrian crash to hit the Highway 65 corridor in Blaine. In a separate incident at Highway 65 and 109th Avenue, 48-year-old David Wallace Johnson of Brooklyn Park was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a van, according to KSTP. That report said a Dodge Grand Caravan was traveling westbound on 109th Avenue when it struck Johnson at the intersection with Highway 65.
KSTP reported that road conditions were dry at the time of that crash and that investigators did not believe the van's driver was under the influence of alcohol. That incident is separate from the fatal crash near 125th Avenue and involved a different intersection along the same highway.
No further information has been released about the man killed near 125th Avenue, and it remains unclear whether his death will factor into the broader safety concerns MnDOT has cited for its planned reconstruction project along the corridor.
