A 35-year-old McAllen man has died from injuries he suffered in a motorcycle crash at the intersection of Trenton and McColl roads in Edinburg, and police now say they do not expect to file charges in connection with the collision. The victim has been identified as Adrian Mario Garza, according to a report from valleycentral.com.
The crash happened shortly after 7 a.m. on a Tuesday at the Trenton and McColl roads intersection, according to KRGV. A news release described the collision as involving a Chevrolet Malibu and a motorcycle, with the Malibu allegedly failing to yield the right of way while turning south onto McColl Road as the motorcycle traveled east on Trenton Road, the outlet reported.
Accounts of the Crash Diverge
That initial account does not match a later report on the same crash. A subsequent KRGV report said preliminary findings indicated both vehicles disregarded a red light, contributing to the collision — a different version of events than the failure-to-yield description given in the earlier release. The station’s reporting does not explain how the two accounts relate to one another, and Hoodline is presenting both versions as reported rather than resolving the discrepancy.
When asked whether the driver of the Malibu would face charges, a city spokesperson initially told the station that the investigation was ongoing. In the later report, the department said it does not anticipate that charges will be filed in connection with the crash. The driver of the Malibu has not been identified by authorities, per the same account.
Second Fatal Motorcycle Crash Reported Near Edinburg
The Trenton and McColl crash is not the only fatal motorcycle collision reported in the Edinburg area in recent months. In January 2026, the Texas Department of Public Safety said a 33-year-old Edinburg resident, Victor Torres, died after a motorcycle collided with a dump truck on Brushline Road north of Davis Road, according to myrgv.com. That crash remains a separate case from the one at Trenton and McColl.
Motorcyclist deaths are also tracked statewide. A report from the Texas Department of Transportation compiles motorcyclist fatality and injury data by age group and helmet use, drawn from crash reports processed through April 9, 2025, though the available portion of that report does not include specific figures for the Rio Grande Valley or for this case.
No further updates on charges or on the identity of the Malibu driver have been reported. Hoodline will continue to follow the investigation as additional information becomes available.
