A 92-year-old Mountain View woman who went missing Monday morning has been found, according to an update from police. Jeraldine had last been seen around 11:30 a.m. in the 900 block of San Pierre Way before her whereabouts became unknown for several hours.
The update came at 3:30 p.m. Monday, when Mountain View Police
posted a brief message confirming the resolution: “UPDATE 11/2/2026 3:30 p.m. Jeraldine has been located.”
Police had described Jeraldine as a 92-year-old female standing approximately 5 feet tall and weighing around 140 pounds, with gray hair and brown eyes. At the time she was last seen, she was wearing a white sweatshirt, blue jeans and blue shoes, per the same account.
Age alone does not automatically trigger a California Silver Alert. State law allows one for a person 65 or older, or someone with a developmental disability or cognitive impairment, when police have used available local resources, find the disappearance unexplained or suspicious, believe the person is at risk and have information that could help the public locate them. The state’s Silver Alert criteria do not establish whether those conditions applied in Jeraldine’s case.
How the Search Unfolded
The original alert, shared under the department's mountainviewpd handle, asked anyone who had seen Jeraldine to call the department's non-emergency and records line at 650-903-6344. The police post was edited at 11:32 p.m. Pacific on Monday, November 2, 2026, rather than when the alert was first issued.
Mountain View Police, which has served the city since 1902, routinely shares missing-person alerts through its social media channels in hopes of mobilizing the community quickly. For emergencies, the department directs residents to call 911.
California logged 42,155 missing-adult reports in 2024, including 1,639 classified as involving a dependent adult—a category covering adults with physical or mental limitations, including Alzheimer’s. The totals span adults of all ages and circumstances, so they do not indicate how many cases involved seniors or resemble Jeraldine’s disappearance. The figures are in the state Department of Justice’s annual report.
What Comes Next
No further information has been released about the circumstances of Jeraldine's disappearance or recovery. The case joins a string of missing-person alerts that Mountain View Police have pushed out to the public in recent months, underscoring how quickly local agencies now lean on social media to spread the word when someone vanishes.
California’s law-enforcement training agency has separate guidance for missing-person investigations and for cases involving wandering. The Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training says its missing-person guidelines were updated in November 2024 and its wandering guidelines were published in November 2025; the materials offer procedures and resources for dispatchers, officers and field supervisors. The guidance reflects that missing-person cases can require different responses depending on the circumstances.
