More than 40 ceramic artists will set up shop at Union Arts Center next weekend, turning the venue into a sprawling pottery market for the Potters' Guild of New Jersey's annual Holiday Show & Sale. The free, indoor event runs Saturday, Nov. 7 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with handmade mugs, bowls, serving pieces, vessels, tiles and sculpture filling the space.
According to pottersguildnj.org, the artists themselves will be on hand throughout the weekend to talk shop, discuss their techniques, and explain the stories behind individual pieces. The show takes place at Union Arts Center, 1980 Morris Ave., Union, NJ 07083, and as TAPinto reports, the Potters' Guild of New Jersey promotes the development of ceramic artists and the exchange of knowledge supporting their craft. Admission is free and open to the public.
Getting There and Parking
Union Township has laid out logistics for visitors planning to attend. Free parking will be available during show hours at Union Arts Center's lot #4, Town Hall's lot #5, and the library parking lots, per the township. Those relying on public transit can catch bus routes #113, #52 or #26 along Morris Avenue, with the closest stop at Morris Avenue and Stuyvesant Avenue, directly across from the theater.
Per TAPinto, the sale draws from a guild membership that includes artists from New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York, and the organization was founded in 1987. The guild's own materials describe a broader mission beyond the twice-yearly sales: monthly meetings that tackle challenges facing working ceramic artists, workshops and demonstrations featuring both local and national potters, and a membership of more than 100 individuals spanning professionals, hobbyists, educators and students, according to pottersguildnj.org.
A Weekend Built Around Browsing
TAPinto reports that Jennifer España, a Union resident and one of the event's coordinators, described the atmosphere as relaxed and welcoming, with work not typically found in stores. España said visitors often arrive looking for a holiday gift and end up leaving with something for themselves too, according to the outlet.
The guild holds several shows and sales each year that draw pottery enthusiasts from across the greater New Jersey area, per pottersguildnj.org. Last year's edition, held at the same Union venue, also featured more than 40 artists selling decorative and functional pottery, according to njfamily.com, which noted that all the pieces on offer were original works made by the guild's own members. That 2025 show ran on the same Saturday-to-Sunday schedule, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. respectively, with entrance free to all who attended.
