A motorcyclist died Sunday night after a crash shut down Interstate 75 North in Clear Creek Township, near the Warren-Montgomery county line, forcing a closure that stretched more than two hours before the highway reopened. The Ohio State Highway Patrol has confirmed the death but has not released the victim's identity or additional details about what led up to the crash.

According to WLWT, the crash happened around 9:45 p.m. Sunday on I-75 North in Clear Creek Township, close to the line separating Warren and Montgomery counties. Troopers confirmed that a motorcycle was involved and that one person died at the scene. The highway was closed for more than two hours before it reopened to traffic, the station reported.

The patrol's Dayton post is leading the investigation, according to Fox19. The station reported that the name of the person killed and further details are being withheld pending notification of next of kin, leaving the circumstances of the crash — and the identity of the victim — unresolved for now.

A Stretch of Highway With a History of Motorcycle Crashes

This is not the first time a motorcycle crash has brought traffic on I-75 in the Dayton area to a standstill. In April 2025, a motorcyclist died in a two-vehicle crash in nearby Turtlecreek Township, also in Warren County, according to troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol as reported by the same station. That crash happened around 1:39 a.m. near milepost 31 on I-75, after a 2020 Kawasaki ZX-10R driven by 32-year-old Samual Ousley of Middletown struck the rear of a southbound Honda CR-V. Ousley was thrown from the motorcycle and died at the scene, while the SUV driver suffered minor injuries; investigators said at the time it was unclear whether drugs, alcohol or speed played a factor.

Another crash involving a motorcycle shut down southbound I-75 in southern Montgomery County in October 2024. Per Dayton 24/7 Now, the Ohio State Highway Patrol shut down southbound lanes near I-75 and Austin Boulevard in Miami Township around 3:50 p.m. that day, and the motorcycle rider involved was taken to Kettering Health for treatment.

Investigation Continues as Family Awaits Notification

For now, Sunday's crash remains an open case, with troopers withholding the victim's name until relatives have been notified. No information has been released about what caused the crash or whether anyone else was hurt, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol has not indicated when further details might be shared.
