Cincinnati police responded to a shooting in the Mount Airy neighborhood that left one person with a gunshot wound to the wrist, an injury described as non-life-threatening. The victim was taken to a hospital, and officers had no suspect information immediately available.
Officers were called to the 5200 block of Horizonvue Drive at 3:45 p.m., according to WKRC. Police found the wounded person at the scene and confirmed the injury was not considered life-threatening. The outlet reported that investigators had not identified any suspects as of the initial report.
A Neighborhood With a History of Gunfire
This is not the first shooting to draw police to Mount Airy this year. In March, officers said a person was grazed by a bullet around 9:52 p.m. in the 5000 block of Hawaiian Terrace and was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, per the station's report. That incident remains separate from Monday's shooting, with no indication the two are connected.
In June, two people — a man and a woman — were hospitalized after officers responded to a shooting in the 2000 block of High Forest Lane around 11 p.m., according to WCPO. Police said that shooting began as a carjacking, and the suspect fled the scene believed to be driving a gray Toyota Camry. A more somber case unfolded in October 2025, when officers were dispatched around 4 a.m. to the 5000 block of Hawaiian Terrace and found a man who later died; police identified him as 26-year-old Jhonny Jesus Mercado-Perez, as reported by WCPO. None of these earlier incidents have been tied to Monday's shooting on Horizonvue Drive.

The station also noted that 42 minors were shot in 2024 compared with 41 in 2025, while gun-violence fatalities rose slightly, from 66 in 2024 to 67 in 2025. Separately, WLWT reported that Over-the-Rhine saw the most reported shootings among city neighborhoods in 2024 with 33, ahead of Avondale's 32 and the West End's 24, as overall reported crime in Cincinnati fell 4.7% that year, from 27,384 incidents in 2023 to 26,110.
A separate Local 12 report described shooting victims as up 12% and non-fatal shootings up 27% compared with the prior year, while homicides were down 27% and people killed by guns were down 28% compared with 2025, though the exact reporting period for those year-over-year figures was not specified in that account. Cincinnati's own reported-shootings data, maintained through the city's CincyInsights dashboard, tracks both fatal and non-fatal shootings citywide but does not include calls for service, arrest information or final case outcomes.
No further details have been released about the victim or the circumstances surrounding Monday's shooting on Horizonvue Drive. Hoodline will update this story if Cincinnati police release additional information.
