Bosse is adding duckpin bowling to its entertainment complex at Natick Mall, giving guests a new way to spend an afternoon alongside the venue's pickleball courts and dining options. Four duckpin lanes have gone in on the second floor of the location, and guests can reserve a private lane for up to three hours with as many as six players allowed per lane.
Rates for the new lanes start at $40 per hour, according to MetroWest Daily News, which reports that bowling is open to all ages, though guests younger than 15 must be accompanied by an adult while visiting the lanes. Larger groups interested in bowling sessions are asked to contact Bosse directly, and reservations for individual lanes can be made at bosse.net.
Hungry bowlers do not need to leave the lane to eat, either. Food from the Bosse Sports Lounge menu can be ordered between frames, letting guests keep a game going while waiting on their order, the outlet's report notes.
Why Duckpin, and Why Now
Bosse chose duckpin over the more common candlepin style for a practical reason. A spokesperson for the business told Natick Report that “duckpin is a little bit more concise of a space and no shoes are needed,” a detail that helps explain how four lanes fit onto the complex's second floor without a shoe-rental counter to manage.
That same outlet reports the four lanes were added to the second floor of the Natick Mall location as part of the broader buildout. The addition slots duckpin in alongside the facility's other offerings rather than replacing anything, giving visitors one more option once they are inside.
A Rare Find in Massachusetts
Duckpin bowling is not easy to find around the state. The new lanes are among relatively few places in Massachusetts offering the format, per a community announcement cited by the same report. Elsewhere in the state, North Chelmsford Lanes has been described as one of only two original duckpin bowling alleys in Massachusetts, according to a prior report from Wicked Local, and that venue reopened after a renovation. A guide from candlepin101.com has also identified Valley Park Bowl in North Adams as the only Massachusetts venue offering both candlepin and duckpin bowling, noting the alley added eight duckpin lanes alongside ten candlepin lanes back in 2022.
What Else Is at the Complex
Duckpin bowling joins a facility that already runs on a large footprint. Bosse operates a 100,000-square-foot complex with 21 pickleball courts at Natick Mall, and the space also includes four dining options, a gym, a sports theater, and recovery areas featuring a traditional hammam and cold plunge, per the same MetroWest Daily News report. The business was founded by sports entrepreneur D.J. Bosse and chef Chris Coombs.
Bosse is open to the public and also offers membership tiers for regular visitors, meaning drop-in guests and members alike can book a lane without committing long-term. Between the pickleball courts, dining, recovery amenities, and now duckpin lanes, the Natick Mall complex is positioning itself as a one-stop stay-and-play destination for MetroWest visitors looking to fill an afternoon.
