A 23-year-old North Texas man who was already out on bond for an earlier arrest has been charged with murder in the stabbing death of a 63-year-old Arlington woman. Jacob Arriaga Guerrero is accused of repeatedly stabbing Erma Azeez at an Arlington apartment complex. He was also accused of additional crimes the very next day.

According to the Tarrant County DA

, Guerrero was free on bond on March 31, 2025, after a prior arrest on charges including aggravated robbery, evading in a vehicle and unlawful carrying of a weapon when he attacked Azeez at the apartment complex. She later died at a hospital from her injuries, the office said.

GPS Data and a Midnight Call Led Police to Guerrero

Arlington police said officers were called just before midnight that Monday to an apartment complex in the 2600 block of Whisper Meadow Lane, according to a report cited by FOX 4. Azeez later died at a hospital from her injuries, and investigators said GPS data provided by Tarrant County placed Guerrero at the crime scene at the time of the attack, as reported by CBS Texas. The City of Arlington's homicide investigation report, filed under case number 2025-00900811, says the department filed murder charges in connection with Azeez's death.

Guerrero had been free on bond for only about a week before the stabbing. He was arrested on March 23 by Crowley Police and charged with aggravated robbery, tampering with physical evidence, evading in a vehicle, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and unlawful carrying of a weapon, as noted by FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth, before bonding out of jail.

A Second Day of Alleged Crimes

The day after the stabbing, Guerrero was accused of stealing a vehicle and striking a pedestrian, her dog and another vehicle. The pedestrian and the other driver were not seriously injured, while the dog suffered leg injuries, according to the station's report.

In its post announcing the sentence, the Tarrant County DA's office thanked the Arlington Police Department, writing, “Thanks to the Arlington Police Department for their work on this case and for their commitment to keeping our community safe.”
