Oʻahu’s Tuesday forecast calls for scattered showers and east winds of 15 to 20 mph. Oʻahu is expected to be partly sunny Tuesday, with windward and mauka areas most likely to see showers; breezes could carry brief showers into leeward neighborhoods. The forecast update says the Wind Advisory has been canceled as winds eased, while the Small Craft Advisory remains in effect through 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The update follows Monday’s forecast, but the current outlook points to a different balance of impacts: lighter, scattered showers on land and continuing marine concerns.
Terrain shapes the island’s rainfall pattern
The Rainfall Atlas of Hawaiʻi describes a broad pattern in which mean rainfall is generally higher on windward mountain slopes and lower in leeward lowlands. That helps put the forecast’s windward-versus-leeward shower outlook in islandwide context.
Breezy conditions continue; surf varies by exposure
Scattered showers are expected Tuesday night, with a partly sunny outlook and a chance of scattered showers Wednesday. Trades are expected to remain moderate to strong through the week, with isolated showers possible and breezy conditions continuing through the week.
Marine conditions will not be uniform around the island. The National Weather Service says persistent trades are expected to keep east-facing shores choppy; north- and west-facing surf should fall to small levels by Wednesday, before a northwest swell could bring surf back toward advisory levels Thursday and Friday, according to its surf forecast. These are shoreline-specific outlooks, not a single description of conditions around all of Oʻahu.
