Omaha woke Tuesday to light rain and temperatures around 57 degrees, with a soggy and blustery day ahead. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to stick around through the afternoon before gradually easing after sunset.
Rain And Gusty Winds Dominate Tuesday
The National Weather Service Omaha/Valley forecasts a 90% chance of precipitation, with another quarter- to half-inch of rain possible. North winds had picked up, with gusts of 25 to 35 knots, then were expected to shift more northwesterly late in the day and weaken to around 15 knots, while temperatures fall from the upper 50s into the low 50s during the afternoon.
Low ceilings and on-and-off showers are expected Tuesday. The weather service reported no watches, warnings or advisories for Nebraska or Iowa in its latest discussion.
Quieter Wednesday Before Another Shower Chance
Rain chances drop Tuesday night, with only a few showers possible before 11 p.m. Skies remain cloudy, and the low should settle near 45 degrees before Wednesday brings mostly cloudy conditions and a high around 53.
A few rain showers could return Thursday, when the chance of precipitation reaches 30%, but conditions should turn drier by Friday. The weekend looks considerably friendlier, with mostly sunny skies and highs near 57 Saturday and 59 Sunday, followed by a sunny Monday near 63.
The National Weather Service says cooler air will settle in through midweek before warmer temperatures return for the weekend.
