Owls will rule the roost at North Chagrin Nature Center this Saturday, when Cleveland Metroparks brings back its annual Owl Hoot-enanny with live birds, free-flying raptors and a lineup of family activities. The event returns to the nature center in Willoughby Hills on November 7.
According to Cleveland Metroparks
, visitors can meet live owls, watch free-flying raptors in action, tackle an obstacle course and take part in crafts and a scavenger hunt. The park system describes North Chagrin Nature Center as the educational hub of North Chagrin Reservation, and it typically keeps regular hours daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Crafts will also be part of the event.
Owl and Raptor Activities
The event will feature live owl talks and opportunities to see raptors.
Families can also enjoy activities for younger visitors.
Looking Back at Past Hootenannies
The event has drawn big crowds before. A past Owl Hootenanny at the same nature center was expected to draw an estimated 1,800 people, according to a report from Cleveland19. That earlier event featured talks from three different agencies — Lake Metroparks, the Medina Raptor Center and Harvey Webster of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History — plus naturalist-led hikes focused on spotting owls in winter and a hands-on chance for visitors to dissect owl pellets.
Those with questions about accessibility or the event itself can reach the nature center directly at 440-473-3370, where staff are available daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
