Dunkin' has reopened just down the road in Parsippany, swapping its old storefront for a renovated former TD Bank building at 430 North Beverwyck Road that now comes equipped with a full drive-thru lane. The move closes out a project years in the making, turning a shuttered bank branch into a freestanding coffee-and-donuts stop built for commuters who want to stay in their cars.
The coffee chain relocated from its longtime spot just down the street at 450 North Beverwyck Road, which is now closed, according to Parsippany Focus. The new freestanding store occupies the former TD Bank building, which closed along with dozens of other TD branches, the outlet reports.
The renovated red-brick building features a dedicated drive-thru lane, a mobile order pickup lane, and a freshly paved parking lot, per the same report. That dual-lane setup lets drivers who ordered ahead on the app bypass the main line entirely, a layout increasingly common among Dunkin' locations built on former bank sites.
What the Township Approved Back in 2023
The conversion traces back to an application the Parsippany-Troy Hills Board of Adjustment approved on August 9, 2023, to repurpose a former drive-thru bank into a drive-thru Dunkin' Donuts, according to minutes posted by the Parsippany-Troy Hills Board of Adjustment. The filing proposed operating hours of 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., with five to six employees on hand during the morning rush.
Those 2023 plans also called for a drive-thru queue built to hold 12 to 16 vehicles, along with one electric-vehicle parking space, the board's minutes show. The board's motion concluded simply with the word “Approved,” clearing the way for the bank-to-Dunkin' conversion to move forward.
Part of a Wider Pattern Along Parsippany's Corridors
This isn't the first time a shuttered bank branch in Parsippany has been reborn as a Dunkin' with a drive-thru. Parsippany Focus notes that locations at 1980 Route 10 West and 239 Littleton Road followed the same playbook, taking over former bank properties to add drive-thru service.
The Route 10 West location, which sits just past the Littleton Road intersection, drew notice as Parsippany Focus described it as the first Dunkin' drive-thru between Livingston Circle and Rockaway Circle. Township officials approved plans for that project in summer 2022, according to Patch, which also reported that the Dunkin' formerly at 246 Littleton Road was set to move into another former Santander Bank property at 239 Littleton Road.
Taken together, the three projects point to a steady local trend: as bank branches close their doors across Parsippany, their drive-thru lanes and parking lots are increasingly finding new life serving coffee instead of cash.
