Two men walked into Patterson Public House on Sunday evening and demanded cash from the register — but when the complainant couldn't get it open, the pair took off empty-handed. Baltimore Police were called to the restaurant on the 2900 block of East Baltimore Street shortly before 9 p.m. on November 1, and the incident has since been classified as an unarmed robbery.
Restaurant Shares Images of the Two Suspects
The Patterson Park eatery, located across from the park itself, shared surveillance photos of the two men involved in the attempted holdup, according to WBFF. The restaurant said surveillance video captured both suspects during the encounter, and it posted its account of the incident in a statement on Facebook. Police said the two men ran off in an unknown direction once it became clear the register wasn't going to open.
Patterson Public House said it closed early on Sunday because of the attempted robbery, cutting the night short for staff and customers alike. The restaurant also noted it has been part of the Patterson Park neighborhood for eight years, a detail it included as it asked the public to come forward with any information. Anyone with details about the incident is encouraged to contact Baltimore Police.
A Neighborhood Already on Edge
This isn't the first time Patterson Park's business and residential streets have drawn police attention over robberies. A 2024 report found there had been 45 robberies in the neighborhood that year, and separate incidents included a 66-year-old man named Bernie who was beaten unconscious during a robbery involving teen suspects that September, and two teenage boys robbed inside the park itself at 11:14 p.m. on a Tuesday night, with one of them assaulted. In that park case, police described the suspects as two white males and one Black male, all wearing black ski masks, and said citywide robbery detectives were investigating with no arrests announced.
It's not established whether those earlier cases are connected to Sunday's attempted robbery at Patterson Public House, and the evidence doesn't indicate whether the suspects from the restaurant incident have been identified or arrested. Citywide, Baltimore Police's 2026 mid-year crime report put the department's robbery clearance rate at 48%, compared with a national average of 27.6%, according to the Baltimore Police Department.
