Phoenix woke to clear skies and temperatures around 56 degrees Tuesday morning, with a sunny afternoon expected to reach about 76. The forecast stays dry and mild through the weekend, even as powerful runoff continues moving through the Salt and Gila river systems after the recent storms.
Sunny, Mild Days Through Thursday
Tuesday and Wednesday should bring mostly sunny skies, light winds and highs near 76 and 75 degrees. A little patchy fog remains possible in parts of Pinal County and along the Gila River, but most of the Phoenix area should stay clear. The dry turn continues the pattern outlined in an earlier Hoodline forecast, with the latest outlook extending the warming trend into Sunday.
Weekend Warmup Brings Highs Near 80
Thursday and Friday should reach the mid to upper 70s, followed by a high near 79 Saturday and 80 Sunday. Overnight lows will remain seasonably cool, mostly in the mid-50s, with mostly clear skies and little wind. Breezier north to northeast winds could develop late in the week and over the weekend, with gusts potentially reaching 20 to 30 mph.
River Flooding Remains The Serious Part
Clear weather does not mean area waterways are back to normal. The National Weather Service Phoenix says flooding will continue to affect parts of the Salt and Gila river systems as water moves downstream and dam releases remain high.
Officials are warning that low-water crossings, riverbanks and nearby camps can remain dangerous, with strong currents capable of sweeping people away. No rain is expected in Phoenix through Saturday, but residents should avoid entering floodwater, obey closures and never drive across a flooded roadway.
