Raising Cane's has a date for its second Birmingham-metro restaurant: Nov. 23. The chicken finger chain's new Trussville location, planned for 1672 Gadsden Highway on the former Pet Supplies Plus site, is scheduled to swing open its doors in three weeks, marking the company's fourth Alabama restaurant.
According to Bham Now, a Raising Cane's public relations representative confirmed the opening date by email. The outlet reports that QSR Magazine first reported the Trussville location's opening date. The project has been in the works for months, moving from early planning to an active construction site over the course of 2026.
From Design Approval to Construction
Back in April, the Trussville Design Review Committee approved concept plans for the new restaurant, according to Cahaba Sun, which also reported that Raising Cane's was eyeing the former Pet Supplies Plus space at 1672 Gadsden Highway. At that point, no construction timeline had been announced, the paper noted.
By July 26, work had clearly accelerated. The Trussville Tribune reported that construction was underway at the site and that the former Pet Supplies Plus building had already been demolished. That same report described the Trussville restaurant as the fourth Raising Cane's location in Alabama, though it noted that no opening date had been set for the restaurant at that time.
A Growing Alabama Footprint
Raising Cane's opened its first Birmingham-area restaurant on U.S. 280 in March 2026, a debut Bham Now covered as the brand's first Birmingham-area location and third in Alabama. The chain also operates two locations in Tuscaloosa and one in Mobile, rounding out its Alabama presence ahead of the Trussville opening.
Trussville's Busy Restaurant Scene
The Raising Cane's project lands amid a wave of new restaurant activity in Trussville. The Farmhouse at the Silos opened at the Silos Golf Club on Roper Road in April, and The Palace Chinese Restaurant returned to 5978 Chalkville Mountain Road in May, per Cahaba Sun's business roundup. Einstein Bros. Bagels opened a Gadsden Highway location in July, and Redemption, a comfort food restaurant from Straight Mountain Foods, opened nearby on Gadsden Highway that same month.
Trussville's growth has tracked alongside that restaurant boom. The city is Alabama's 24th largest, with an estimated population of 27,273 residents in 2025, and it has added more than 1,000 people since the 2020 census. Culver's construction was also underway elsewhere in Trussville this year, at 5905 Trussville Crossings Boulevard in a former BancorpSouth building, according to the Trussville Tribune's July report.
